This was the century in which Scotus began to become the official Doctor of the Franciscan Order. Universities throughout Europe established chairs of Scotistic theology.

• Francesco Licheto, O.F.M. Obs. (†1520), wrote a commentary on the Opus Oxoniense that was included in the Wadding Edition.
• Juan de Ovando de Páredes O.F.M. Obs. (†1610), published a commentary on book III of the Opus Oxoniense.
